We are not just another listing site. Okanagan Contractors is the brainchild of local contractors who are fed up with unlicensed and uncertified businesses giving the rest of us a bad name. We are sick and tired of hearing the horror stories. We identified 2 main areas where information is lacking for homeowners thinking of doing a project that requires contractors.
1st Customer Focused
There are many listing sites out there where you can find a contractor that is part of an association, but they are not consumer friendly and lack the basic checklists that we are incorporating into our verified process. They also often cater to the larger companies that take on commercial and industrial and large-scale housing projects. We want to focus on the homeowner and the contractors they are going to hire.
Customer education, the association sites were often focused on the larger clients, larger contracting companies and centered around education for the contractor rather than the end user. We elevate the entire construction industry by educating homeowners, and providing the information they need to make the right choice for them. We understand that when an industry is left to police itself it’s always the customers who suffer.
We are providing answers to customers’ questions, information on how to protect yourself, how to ensure you are getting work done right and focusing on the pain points experienced by the customers. By doing this we create more savvy clients and reduce the number of bad experiences.
2nd Contractor Verification
While many of the association sites out there have a vetting process, they aren’t connecting with the small companies that homeowners often use, or they lack any sort of vetting process altogether.
We wanted to create a space for homeowners to connect with contractors that focus on them. These are often the small to medium-sized companies, the contractors who often fall through the cracks and spend the most amount of time dealing with illegitimate contractors.
We have developed a verification process based around years of experience in the industry and hundreds of hours of research into what homeowners should ask their contractors before hiring them. We want to ensure that customers have a one stop easy to use listing where they can find contractors who are making their business information available to their clients. Getting that information shouldn’t be scary or hard, when a contractor signs up with us they are agreeing to make that information available.
